Silver have the atomic number 47 which symbol is Ag. The characteristic are soft, white, and lustrous transition metal. Sterling silver is a precious metal which consists of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metal (mainly copper) to improve its durability, as pure silver usually too soft for jewellery and easily scratches.
